In this month of October NATO and other countries under the leadership of America attacked on Afghanistan to wipe out Taliban regime. On account of this Taliban lost its foothold in Afghanistan.After Taliban regime long oppression this came as greatest relief for afghan people. During the Taliban regime they suffered very much in humanly and economically. Taliban under the leadership of Mullah Omar has enforced strict sharia law .Women condition during this went from bad to worse. They hadn’t had right of education. They had to wear the burqa all the time. If they are going outside some close relative must be with them. Following was the punishment for violating any of the decree given by Taliban a)if they were seen going to school they are killed before their family, b)if they caught going outside other than family man they stoned to death, c)one women beaten up so much that her ankle was broken.
On 9/11 Al Qaeda attacked on World Trade Center building. This was enough to furious the USA.Within one month time George Bush administration decided to attack on Afghanistan with full force. This attack came as boon for Afghanistan who was long suffering with Taliban atrocities. USA and NATO army fought long battle in Afghanistan under the tough weather and geographic condition.Initially Al Qaeda was gaining because they were accustomed to tough condition Afghanistan but soon Army soldiers began to gain stronghold. In this battle Taliban was defeated. But In this war in addition to Taliban,lot of innocent Afghan people also lost their life for which there was no account. In 2001 Hamid Karzai sworn as president. When in 2004 presidential election took place Hamid Karzai came again victorious. After that He took several steps to bring the country economy in the track.
After the battle many expatriates began to come back with huge money .UN and other donors nation has come forward for the development in war-ravaged country. Major investment was done infrastructure like i.e road,powerhouses,education,telephone line which resulted in a lot of jobs for Afghans. Expatriates also invested in real estate which is now visible in beautiful mall, shopping centers, parks in major cities. Education system which was become totally destroyed during Taliban regime was beginning to stand on his feets.New school were established and teachers were recruited .Universities like Kabul and American university of Afghanistan were established. In regard to transportation system Ariana afghan airways was established. Rail link between major cites is also being tried to start. Military and Security area is also beefed up. Economy is also slowly began to strong with the international help. Central bank da Afghani also established .16 other bank also opened. According to one survey Afghanistan has huge reserve of natural gas, lithium,coal,copper,gold.This can be used to strengthen the economy of this poor country.
Even after the long war of struggle and prosperity ,there is no stop of terrorist attack in Afghanistan. Every now and then we hear of human casualties because of terrorist attack. Currently both southern side and eastern side has stronghold of Taliban. In 2009 president Hamid Karzai proposed peace process with Taliban .Till mid 2011 it is going on well but the death of leader Burhanuddin rabbani has plunged the peace process to new low level. Amid all the shocking news is that one Government agency in London claim that in 2014 when USA, NATO Army will back from Afghanistan, there is chances of civil war.it is possible that Taliban can again gain its lost regime.it is said that it will come back strongly in eastern and southern side of Afghanistan
